Manchester United icon Scholes thinks it would be 'ideal for all involved' if Grealish departs Manchester City this summer and suggests he should 'think about' returning to Aston Villa.

Grealish rose to prominence at his childhood club Aston Villa prior to this. Manchester City paid £100 million to bring him over from the team based in the Midlands. .

The player turned champion at the Etihad Stadium both in the Premier League and the Champions League, yet when it comes to personal achievements, they haven’t matched the standards set during their time at Aston Villa.

'I believe the decision not to bring Jack Grealish on as a substitute in the FA Cup final indicates that it might be best for him to move on,' Scholes stated. TNT Sports .

'He needs some time off to rejuvenate his professional life. Everyone understands how talented a player he can be, yet over the past few years, things have been inconsistent.'

Seeing the young guy (Claudio Echeverri) get substituted in during the final instead of himself surely felt like a punch in the gut for Grealish; that must have stung quite badly.

'I believe it's in everyone's interest for him to depart from the team. What reason does he have not to contemplate returning to Aston Villa?'

England legend Alan Shearer believes that Grealish should depart from Manchester City this summer as well. and thinks Guardiola has moved on from the $200 million acquisition.

Speaking on The Rest is Soccer podcast , Shearer said: ‘His time is up at Man City. He has to leave.

‘For Pep Guardiola to bring on a debutant, a young boy, and Gundogan rather than Jack Grealish when Man City are desperate for a goal… his time is up.

'He's finished at Manchester City; he must go now. No matter what, Pep isn't fond of him anymore and doesn't want him around. The clock has run out for this player.'

Grealish might decide to depart from the Premier League altogether and reconstruct his career somewhere else.

Asked about Grealish following Man City’s victory over Fulham, which clinched the club’s Champions League qualification, Guardiola said: ‘Don’t ask me about Jack.

Who mentioned I'm unhappy with Jack? Rico Lewis didn’t make the cut, but James McAtee performed brilliantly against Aston Villa and Wolves — shouldn't you be asking me about McAtee instead? This isn't personal.

'I've got 24 players, but I had to drop six players from the lineup for the previous match and another five for today’s game since [Mateo] Kovacic received his red card.'

'I handle Jack as I consider Abdukodir Khusanov, McAtee, and all the players who haven’t made the cut yet; according to your view, if this is how selections are being done, then we’re in for some difficulties.'

'It isn’t about that. Out of my 24 players, I need to let go of five due to Kovacic getting red-carded in the previous match.'

‘I’m thinking of Jack and Khusanov and McAtee. It’s nothing personal with Jack. I’m the person who fought for him to come here and the person who fought for him to stay here this season and the next season.

‘I’m the one who said I want Jack Grealish. Now he didn’t come because he didn’t come, but not something else. What happens in the future is a job for Txiki [Begiristain], Hugo and the agents.’
